Perfect as presents for friends, teachers, your own table or Christmas tree, these gorgeous garlands ooze rustic charm and taste fabulous too. You could also mix it up with some different shapes like Christmas Trees, Angels, or Gingerbread-Men. For these larger shapes use ribbon , and thread using two holes 'button' style.

Preheat oven to 160C (fan forced)
In a bowl cream Nuttelex, sugar, golden syrup then add the egg paste substitute, vanilla & continue to mix
Sift the dry ingredients and add to butter mixture to form a dough
Next, knead dough for a couple of minutes then wrap in cling film and pop it in the fridge to rest for 30 minutes
Remove dough from fridge and roll between 2 pieces of baking paper (or a lightly floured bench) to 0.5 cm thick then cut out with star shape cookie cutter. Then make a decent size hole in each star with a toothpick or narrow straw for the string to be threaded through
Bake for 10 minutes until lightly browned
Let cool on a tray then dust with icing sugar
Stars can be hung either horizontally or vertically- lay them out with your string first to decide which way you prefer and the spacing that suits. Then thread the first star – leaving a good 15 cm of string at the end – and gently make a knot after each star to hold it in place.
